Clinical Application
Provides atraumatic retraction and controlled depression of the tongue when used with the Davis Boyle Fig.4 mouth gag frame. The plate facilitates exposure of the oropharynx and hypopharyngeal inlet for procedures such as tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, oropharyngeal lesion excision, airway assessment, and other ENT or oral surgical interventions that require sustained anterior tongue control.
Design & Configuration
The broad, flat contact surface distributes pressure across the dorsum of the tongue to minimize focal compression while maintaining reliable exposure. The 22 x 60 mm footprint balances reach and surface area—long enough to engage posterior oral tissues without excessive bulk anteriorly. The plate is configured to attach to the Davis Boyle Fig.4 frame, enabling secure, hands-free retraction and consistent alignment with the gag’s bite block and cheek retractors.
