Clinical Application

This self-retaining mouth gag is intended to provide sustained, hands-free exposure of the oral cavity and oropharynx during procedures such as tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy and other pharyngeal or intraoral surgeries. By depressing and stabilizing the tongue and maintaining mouth opening, the gag improves visualization and surgical access while allowing the anesthetist to manage the airway and endotracheal tube without interference.

Design & Configuration

The instrument features a frame designed to hold the jaws open without continuous manual retraction, freeing assistants and improving operative ergonomics. The included set of five interchangeable T-plates allows the surgeon to select the plate that best fits patient anatomy and operative needs; T-shaped plates are commonly used to support and depress the tongue while minimizing tissue compression. The adult configuration provides an aperture suitable for adult oral anatomy and supports controlled exposure while helping to secure and route an endotracheal tube when needed.
