Clinical Application
This tongue plate is intended for direct retraction and protection of the tongue during intraoral procedures. It provides a stable, broad contact surface to displace the tongue out of the operative field, improving visualization and access for tonsillectomy, oropharyngeal surgery, intraoral tumor excision, and a range of ENT and oral/maxillofacial interventions. The plate can be used as a standalone retractor or as the working contact component within compatible mouth gags and retraction assemblies to maintain exposure while instruments are introduced.
Design & Configuration
The broad, flat plate geometry distributes contact forces across the dorsal and lateral surfaces of the tongue to reduce focal pressure and mucosal trauma while maintaining consistent retraction. The 19-23 x 59 mm footprint offers a balance between lateral coverage and anterior-posterior reach, allowing surgeons to position the tongue safely without excessive bulk in the oral cavity. The single-piece construction simplifies positioning and minimizes seams or joints that could trap tissue.
