Clinical Application
This self-retaining mouth gag provides stable, hands-free exposure of the oral cavity and oropharynx to facilitate intraoral access during surgical and dental procedures. It is used to maintain an open oral field for instrumentation, visualization, suturing and tissue retraction in procedures such as intraoral tumor resections, complex dental extractions, oral-maxillofacial approaches and other ENT interventions where sustained exposure is required.
Design & Configuration
The instrument combines Jansen-style oral blades with features associated with Molt and Doyen patterns: broad, opposing blades deliver atraumatic retraction of lips, cheeks and tongue while an adjustable ratchet holds the desired degree of opening. The 11 cm working length balances access depth with control, enabling exposure of posterior oral structures without excessive protrusion. The self-retaining mechanism frees the surgical assistant for other tasks and provides consistent tension during delicate intraoral maneuvers.
