Clinical Application

This accessory provides a mechanical barrier between the assistant’s finger and operative field during manual retraction and blunt palpation. It is intended for use in open soft-tissue procedures where Langenbeck-style hand retractors are employed — for example, general surgery, ENT, oral/maxillofacial, plastic, and other specialties requiring handheld retraction. The shield reduces the risk of skin laceration and direct contact with sharp instrument edges while preserving tactile feedback needed for safe tissue handling.

Design & Configuration

The contoured, low-profile shield is shaped to cover the volar surface of the finger without significantly increasing bulk. This geometry allows the assistant to maintain fingertip contact and tactile sensation while providing a protective interface between finger and retractor blade or tissue.
