Clinical Application

This handheld retractor is intended to provide controlled retraction of superficial soft tissues and wound edges during procedures that require fine exposure in small to medium incisions. The finger-protect feature permits the assistant or primary operator to place the instrument very close to the tissue while maintaining a safe barrier between the blade and the user’s fingers, improving control when retracting skin, subcutaneous tissue, mucosa, or fascia in general, plastic, ENT and other minor surgical cases.

Design & Configuration

The instrument combines a classic Langenbeck-style flat blade with an integrated finger guard at the handle. The narrow, blunt blade concentrates retraction where needed without sharp corners, while the finger guard provides a tactile stop and protective barrier for the operator’s fingers. This configuration improves leverage and grip security for manual retraction, helps maintain stable exposure in shallow cavities and along incision lines, and reduces the need for repeated repositioning.
