Clinical Application
Designed to provide atraumatic retraction of the nostrils and improved line-of-sight into the anterior nasal cavity, this speculum is used for diagnostic nasal examination and a range of ENT procedures. Common applications include septal inspection, inspection and debridement of the nasal mucosa, placement and removal of nasal packing, foreign body removal, and as an adjunct for minor in-office procedures and portions of functional endoscopic procedures where simple manual retraction is required.
Design & Configuration
The instrument's two-blade hinged design permits controlled, symmetric dilation of the vestibule and anterior cavity while minimizing edge pressure on mucosa. At 14.5 cm overall length, the geometry provides additional reach compared with shorter anterior specula, allowing clinicians better visualization of deeper anterior structures without altering hand position. Smooth, rounded blade edges reduce trauma during insertion and retraction, and the handheld hinge affords rapid adjustment and direct tactile feedback during procedures.
