Clinical Application
This conical ear speculum provides a atraumatic working channel for inspection and instrumentation of the external auditory canal. The 10.0 mm diameter opening is commonly used for adult ear canals and supports diagnostic otoscopy, removal of cerumen and foreign bodies, suctioning under microscope or headlight illumination, and intraoperative canal exposure during minor aural procedures.
Design & Configuration
The Fig.4 pattern features a broad, tapered funnel profile that aligns the canal entrance with the clinician’s line of sight while minimizing contact with canal skin. The conical geometry concentrates the viewing aperture and creates a controlled pathway for suction tubing and small instruments, improving access and reducing the risk of soft-tissue trauma during instrumentation.
