Clinical Application
Designed to provide controlled sternal and rib separation during median sternotomy and other thoracic procedures. The instrument delivers stable, hands-free retraction to optimize exposure of the mediastinum, heart, and great vessels during coronary artery bypass, valve surgery, complex thoracic resections, and related procedures where sustained and adjustable sternal retraction is required. The 20×28×210 mm sizing offers a blade footprint and span appropriate for adult sternal retraction where moderate to full separation is necessary.
Design & Configuration
The Morse pattern provides a compact, self-retaining design with opposing blades that are opened incrementally via a ratchet-control mechanism, allowing the operative field to be widened with fine control and minimal sudden movement. Blade geometry and arm length are selected to distribute retraction forces over the sternum and ribs, reducing focal pressure and improving soft-tissue protection while maintaining stable exposure throughout the case.
