Clinical Application
This DeBakey vascular dilator is designed to atraumatically expand lumenal openings and gently dilate vessel grafts, arteriotomies, and introducer sites. The 7.0 mm tip diameter accommodates medium-sized peripheral and conduit vessels and is used to facilitate passage of catheters, cannulas, or vascular grafts during bypass, arterial repair, endarterectomy adjunct procedures, and access-site management.
Design & Configuration
The instrument's tapered, atraumatic tip provides a gradual profile that minimizes intimal trauma during dilation. The smooth, continuous shaft geometry allows controlled advancement along the vessel or graft, while the 35 cm overall length gives reach for deeper or less accessible operative fields without requiring excessive manipulation. The DeBakey pattern emphasizes blunt, noncutting contact with tissue to reduce the risk of shear or puncture.
