Clinical Application
Designed for atraumatic dilation of small-caliber vessels, this dilator is used to gently expand vessel lumens to facilitate introduction of cannulas, catheters, guidewires, and shunts. Common applications include peripheral vascular procedures, microvascular exposure, creation of vascular anastomoses, and any case where controlled, incremental dilation of a 1.0 mm lumen is required. The blunt, tapered tip minimizes intimal injury while allowing progressive enlargement under direct or indirect visualization.
Design & Configuration
The straight, rigid shaft delivers predictable force transmission for controlled dilation. The tapered profile, terminating in a 1.0 mm atraumatic tip, permits graduated advancement through a vessel or vessel sheath to dilate the lumen with minimal trauma to the intima. At 19 cm overall length the instrument provides sufficient reach for both superficial and deeper peripheral access while maintaining tactile feedback important for delicate vascular manipulation.
