Clinical Application
Designed for temporary occlusion of large caliber vessels, this clamp is used during cardiothoracic and vascular procedures to provide proximal control of the aorta and major branches. Typical applications include exposure and isolation during open aortic repair, proximal control for shunt procedures, and any operative scenario requiring reliable, short-term interruption of arterial flow in the thoracic field.
Design & Configuration
The long 20 cm shank delivers increased reach into the thoracic cavity while keeping the operating hand clear of the field. The 18 mm jaw provides a broad contact surface to distribute clamping pressure across the vessel wall, reducing focal compression and lowering the risk of intimal injury when compared with narrower jaws. The hand-held occlusive design permits rapid application and release for temporary vascular control during critical portions of a procedure.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Vascular aortic clamp (Blalock pattern)
