Clinical Application
This side‑biting vascular clamp is intended for controlled partial occlusion of large vessels during vascular anastomosis and reconstruction. The geometry permits lateral (side‑biting) control of flow on tubular structures such as the aorta, inferior vena cava and other large arteries and veins, enabling exposure of the vessel wall for suturing while maintaining distal perfusion. It is commonly used in open vascular procedures where precise, sustained partial occlusion is required for grafting, patch angioplasty, or vessel repair.
Design & Configuration
The elongated 26.5 cm shaft provides reach into deep thoracic or abdominal fields while keeping the surgeon's hands clear of the operative site. The angled, broad occluding jaw is configured to engage a long segment of vessel wall, distributing compressive force for secure blood control with reduced focal stress on the vessel. Side‑biting geometry facilitates a stable partial clamp that exposes the anastomotic site laterally, improving visibility and access for suturing without the need for complete cross‑clamping.
