Clinical Application

The flexible tip provides incremental adjustability at the distal blade edge, which can help optimize the line of sight in patients with anterior laryngeal anatomy, limited neck extension, or when minimal force on the upper teeth and soft tissues is desired.

Design & Configuration

The Macintosh curvature positions the blade in the vallecula to effect an indirect lift of the epiglottis, a technique widely used by anesthesiologists and airway clinicians for controlled intubation. The flexible distal tip allows finer control of blade-to-tissue contact without requiring excessive blade insertion or increased lifting force; this can result in improved glottic exposure in challenging airway geometry while reducing soft-tissue trauma.
