Clinical Application

Designed for atraumatic control of large central veins, this clamp is used to achieve partial or total occlusion of the inferior vena cava and other major venous structures. It is commonly employed during hepatic resection, caval repair, vascular reconstruction, transplant surgery, cardiothoracic procedures, and trauma cases where controlled exposure and temporary vascular occlusion are required without crushing the vessel wall.

Design & Configuration

The long 25 cm shank provides extended reach for deep or confined operative fields, allowing the surgeon to isolate and control the vena cava while maintaining a working distance from the operative site. The Satinsky-style partial-occlusion geometry permits segmental clamping to preserve distal flow when appropriate, and the Debakey atraumatic jaw profile distributes compressive forces to minimize endothelial injury. The Fig. 3 configuration denotes the specific jaw/shaft geometry used to balance occlusive effectiveness with surgical access.
