Clinical Application

Designed to provide controlled, partial occlusion of large central veins, this Satinsky-style clamp permits side-biting control of the inferior vena cava and other major venous trunks during open procedures. Common uses include temporary caval control for tumor thrombus extraction, venous repair and anastomosis, hepatic resections where segmental caval occlusion is required, and other vascular or transplant procedures that require secure, partial vessel occlusion while preserving flow in non-clamped segments.

Design & Configuration

The side-biting Satinsky geometry distributes compressive force across a broad jaw surface to reduce focal intimal pressure and minimize vessel trauma. The extended 23 cm shank provides reach into deep abdominal or retroperitoneal fields while maintaining tactile control at the handles. An angled head profile facilitates lateral placement on the vessel for segmental occlusion without extensive mobilization. A locking mechanism along the shank secures the clamp position, allowing the assistant or surgeon to maintain sustained occlusion during repair or reconstruction.
