Clinical Application
Curved DeBakey–Kelly artery forceps provide atraumatic vascular control for temporary occlusion and hemostasis of small to medium-sized vessels. They are used routinely in cardiovascular, cardiothoracic, vascular and general surgical procedures where delicate handling of vessel walls is required—such as ligation, vessel loop placement, bleeding-point control, and preparation of vessels for anastomosis. The atraumatic jaw design minimizes endothelial trauma when clamping fragile vessels.
Design & Configuration
The curved shaft permits an approach tangent to the vessel axis, improving visibility and access in deep or confined operative fields. The DeBakey-style jaws feature fine longitudinal serrations to distribute clamping pressure evenly and reduce crush injury to vascular tissue. A slim distal profile facilitates placement around vessels and between tissue planes, while the locking mechanism secures a reliable hold during suture ligation or vessel manipulation.
