Clinical Application

Straight Miller blades are used to obtain a direct line of sight to the glottic opening by lifting the epiglottis. This configuration is the preferred approach for many neonatal and young infant airways where the epiglottis is relatively large, floppy, and anterior. A set including sizes #00, #0 and #1 covers the spectrum of neonatal and small infant patients commonly encountered in the operating room, NICU, emergency department and pediatric transport. Clinicians use these blades for endotracheal intubation, confirmation of airway anatomy, assisted ventilation and brief airway suctioning during instrumentation.

Design & Configuration

The Miller pattern is a straight, narrow-profile blade designed for direct elevation of the epiglottis rather than indirect lift of the vallecula. The slim flange and shorter blades in sizes #00 through #1 minimize oral cavity occupation and permit placement in small mouths without excessive tissue retraction. Having a three-blade set allows rapid selection of the best-fitting blade for patient anatomy and clinical circumstances, reducing manipulation and improving first-pass intubation success in neonatal and infant cases.

Instrument Specifications

  • Set composition: three straight Miller laryngoscope blades — sizes #00, #0, #1
  • Pattern: Miller straight blade for direct epiglottis elevation
  • Intended use: neonatal and small infant oral endotracheal intubation and airway management
  • Design: conventional illuminated blade configuration
  • Reusable construction suitable for clinical reprocessing

Material & Construction

Constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel for strength, corrosion resistance and durability under repeated reprocessing. The conventional blade design uses a replaceable illumination source integrated to work with standard laryngoscope handle systems, providing bright, focused light at the blade tip for glottic visualization. Blades are built for repeated clinical use and hospital reprocessing workflows.

Quality & Compliance

Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.

Brand Comparison

Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
