Clinical Application
This blade is intended for direct laryngoscopy to expose the glottis and facilitate endotracheal tube placement during anesthesia induction, emergency airway management, and procedural sedation. The size #2, 90 mm blade is commonly selected for smaller adult patients and pediatric patients with small airways where a shorter blade profile improves control and reduces the need for extreme head extension.
Design & Configuration
The integrated fiber-optic (FO) internal/transmitting illumination delivers consistent light to the distal portion of the blade, minimizing shadows and improving visualization of the epiglottis and vocal cords. The blade’s slim profile reduces soft-tissue displacement and can make insertion and maneuvering in limited oral openings easier. The 90 mm working length balances reach to the laryngeal inlet with control for fine manipulation during intubation.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Laryngoscope blade
- Pattern / model: Wisc. Foregger
- Illumination: Fiber-optic internal/transmitting (FO)
- Length / size: 90 mm, size #2
- Primary use: Direct laryngoscopy and facilitation of endotracheal intubation
