Clinical Application
This Volkmann bone curette in the Fig.4 pattern is designed for controlled scraping and curettage of bone surfaces and confined osseous cavities. It is used to remove granulation tissue, loose cancellous bone, and small osteophytes, and is commonly employed in orthopedic procedures, hand and foot surgery, trauma cases, and any procedure requiring precise bone surface debridement or graft site preparation. The 17 cm length provides extended reach for deeper operative fields while preserving tactile feedback for delicate work.
Design & Configuration
The Fig.4 Volkmann configuration features a concave, spoon-shaped tip that allows en bloc removal of soft tissue and scraping of bone with a defined cutting edge. The scoop geometry offers controlled tissue capture and efficient scraping across curved bone surfaces. A straight, slender shaft and 17 cm overall length permit access into narrow or deeper surgical sites without excessive bulk, improving visualization and hand positioning for the surgeon.
