Clinical Application
The Bruns bone curette Fig.4 is designed for controlled removal of bone and fibrous tissue, precise contouring of cortical edges, and preparation of bone beds. Its geometry supports tasks such as scraping residual cortical bone, delineating margins in small bone windows, and obtaining small cancellous specimens. Typical users include orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, ENT surgeons and oral/maxillofacial specialists requiring a reliable hand curette for delicate bone work.
Design & Configuration
The Bruns pattern features a shallow, spoon-shaped concave blade that permits accurate scooping and shaving of bone with tactile feedback. The 17 cm shaft provides extended reach into deeper operative fields while preserving manual control at the working tip. The concave profile retains dislodged bone fragments for removal and helps protect adjacent soft tissues during scraping and contouring.
