Clinical Application
Designed for controlled removal and shaping of bone and fibrous tissue, this Volkmann-style curette is used for curettage of cancellous bone, debridement of osteomyelitic bone, preparation of bone surfaces for grafting, and fine contouring in confined operative fields. The 17 cm length gives surgeons reach into deep or narrow sites while maintaining tactile feedback for delicate bone work in orthopedic, spinal, hand/foot, ENT and oral/maxillofacial procedures.
Design & Configuration
The angled shaft positions the concave blade for efficient, ergonomic scraping action with minimal hand repositioning. The spoon-shaped (Volkmann) tip distributes scraping forces across a controlled cutting edge, allowing precise removal of bone or granulation tissue without excessive penetration. The length and shaft geometry are intended to balance reach and control when working in deeper cavities or around bony prominences.
