Clinical Application
Used to perform controlled cutting, shaving and levering of cortical bone during orthopedic procedures. The straight Hibbs chisel is suitable for osteotomies, bone contouring, preparation of bone surfaces for fixation, and other situations that require precise removal of small-to-moderate amounts of bone. It can be used by hand for delicate shaping or struck with a mallet for osteotomy cuts, depending on surgical technique.
Design & Configuration
The straight geometry transmits axial force directly from handle to cutting edge, improving accuracy of linear cuts and facilitating alignment in open exposures. A 13 mm blade width provides a balance between precision and cutting efficiency for localized bone work. The 24 cm overall length offers extended reach for deeper surgical fields while maintaining tactile control at the handle.
