Clinical Application
This conventional Wisconsin Foregger laryngoscope blade is sized and configured to provide visualization of the laryngeal inlet and to facilitate placement of endotracheal tubes in neonates and small infants. Size #1 (71 mm) offers a reduced intraoral profile suitable for small oral cavities, making it appropriate for routine pediatric airway management, controlled intubation during anesthesia induction, and emergency neonatal airway procedures when a small blade is required.
Design & Configuration
The blade's conventional geometry is intended to balance exposure and a minimal intraoral footprint. At 71 mm, the shorter length reduces the risk of deep insertion while providing adequate reach to present the laryngeal structures for direct visualization. The design allows clinicians to lift or sweep soft tissues to expose the glottis while maintaining tactile feedback, aiding controlled placement of an endotracheal tube in small patients. The blade is configured to mate with conventional laryngoscope handles for standard clinical use.
