Clinical Application
Designed to establish and maintain a central working channel within the medullary canal during intramedullary nailing procedures for long-bone fractures. The pin provides a stable guide for sequential reaming, depth measurement and cannulated nail insertion in procedures such as femoral, tibial, and humeral nailing. It aids in maintaining alignment and provides tactile feedback during instrument passage.
Design & Configuration
The straight 46 cm length offers sufficient working reach for antegrade and retrograde access in most adult long-bone nailing procedures. A 5.0 mm shaft diameter balances flexibility and stiffness to resist buckling during reaming and nail passage while allowing compatibility with cannulated instruments that accept 5.0 mm guide elements. Smooth, uniform geometry promotes centered passage of reamers and implants and reduces soft-tissue drag during insertion and removal.
