Clinical Application
This straight Miller-style blade is intended to provide direct elevation of the epiglottis to expose the glottic opening during direct laryngoscopy. The size #0, 55 mm length is optimized for very small patients—neonates and small infants—where short blade length and a narrow tip facilitate visualization and placement of a tracheal tube. Common use cases include neonatal and pediatric anesthesia, emergency airway management in infants, NICU intubation, and procedures requiring direct visualization of the vocal cords in small patients.
Design & Configuration
The conventional Miller geometry features a straight shaft and a narrow tip designed to directly lift the epiglottis rather than rely on a curved sweeping motion. This configuration gives the operator fine control of epiglottic position and can improve line-of-sight to the glottis in patients with a floppy or anteriorly positioned epiglottis. The compact 55 mm length reduces soft-tissue interference in the oropharynx and helps when working in confined pediatric airways.
