Clinical Application
This driver/extension is intended to transmit axial torque and establish a controlled connection between a hand or power driver and an intramedullary nail that accepts a 6.4mm drive interface. It is used during nail insertion, seating, and removal in trauma and orthopedic procedures involving long-bone fixation (for example femoral, tibial, and humeral nails). The extension function provides additional reach and alignment control when the proximal nail opening is recessed or when soft-tissue and guide instrumentation limit direct access.
Design & Configuration
The straight extension geometry provides extended reach from the handle or power source to the nail driver interface while maintaining inline torque transfer. A precisely machined 6.4mm drive coupling ensures engagement with compatible nail receptacles, allowing controlled insertion and removal without excessive play. The extension form factor facilitates work in deep or constrained surgical fields and helps maintain axial alignment to reduce cross-threading or mis-engagement during final seating.
Instrument Specifications
