Clinical Application

Design & Configuration

The Macintosh curved geometry is optimized to lift the epiglottis indirectly by seating the blade tip in the vallecula, creating a line of sight to the vocal cords while minimizing direct contact with the epiglottis. The conventional bulb provides localized illumination at the distal portion of the blade to enhance visualization during intubation. The longer 150 mm blade length on a #5 offers additional depth for larger anatomy while maintaining a smooth, rounded distal edge to reduce soft‑tissue trauma during insertion and manipulation.
