Clinical Application

Designed for direct laryngoscopy to facilitate visualization of the glottis and placement of an endotracheal tube in adult patients. The size #5 configuration and 150 mm length provide extended reach for larger or deep airways encountered in bariatric or large adult patients and in situations where increased blade length is required for optimal exposure. Appropriate for use in operating rooms, emergency departments, intensive care units, and pre‑hospital airway management when a conventional, bulb‑illuminated Macintosh blade is preferred.

Design & Configuration

The Macintosh curved geometry is optimized to lift the epiglottis indirectly by seating the blade tip in the vallecula, creating a line of sight to the vocal cords while minimizing direct contact with the epiglottis. The conventional bulb provides localized illumination at the distal portion of the blade to enhance visualization during intubation. The longer 150 mm blade length on a #5 offers additional depth for larger anatomy while maintaining a smooth, rounded distal edge to reduce soft‑tissue trauma during insertion and manipulation.

Instrument Specifications

  • Size: #5
