Clinical Application
The Reverdin design provides a small, openable eye that allows the surgeon to capture, transfer or exchange suture material single‑handedly without threading through a conventional needle eye. This reduces manipulation in confined or delicate operative fields and is especially useful for ophthalmic, plastic, hand, ENT and other soft‑tissue procedures where precise suture placement is required. The 23 cm shaft length offers extended reach for deeper wounds or when working across a wider surgical field.
Design & Configuration
The instrument features a Reverdin‑style opening eye (Fig.1 pattern) that secures suture when closed and releases it when opened. That mechanism facilitates rapid capture and release of monofilament or fine braided suture without repeated needle passes, helping to minimize tissue trauma and operative time. The elongated 23 cm configuration provides additional reach and control while maintaining tactile feedback for delicate maneuvers.
