Clinical Application
Designed for use in varicose vein surgery, the Nabatoff vein stripper is used to perform segmental or continuous stripping and avulsion of the greater (long) saphenous vein after proximal ligation. The device facilitates atraumatic engagement of the vein lumen so the conduit can be withdrawn through a single access tract, reducing the number of skin incisions required for removal. It is indicated for use by vascular and general surgeons experienced in open vein-stripping techniques.
Design & Configuration
The instrument’s long, flexible shaft is malleable to permit contouring along the anatomic course of the saphenous vein. A bulbous (olive) tip is used to engage and capture the vein lumen while minimizing intimal trauma during passage and traction. The slim profile and smooth surface reduce friction during stripping and help the device traverse perforators and tributaries with controlled resistance under direct or blind technique.
