Clinical Application
This instrument is used to create and protect a controlled channel for sharp dissection and instrument passage. The grooved guide stabilizes and directs a scalpel blade or other cutting instrument to limit blade depth and trajectory while the included blunt probe is used to explore tracts, dilate tissue planes, and shield underlying structures during incision. It is commonly utilized in procedures requiring precise short- to medium-depth tunneling or incision guidance such as drain or catheter placement, minor soft-tissue dissections, and controlled entry in general, plastic/reconstructive, ENT and ambulatory procedure settings.
Design & Configuration
The longitudinal groove provides a defined channel that seats a scalpel blade or cutting instrument, reducing lateral slippage and helping control cutting depth and angle. The separate blunt probe complements the director by allowing tactile exploration ahead of the incision, blunt dissection of tissue planes, and protection of vessels or ducts while the scalpel is passed along the groove. At 20 cm overall length the instrument provides extended reach to access deeper subcutaneous or parenchymal planes without compromising tactile feedback or control.
Instrument Specifications
- Grooved guiding surface to align and stabilize cutting instruments
- Matching blunt probe for exploration and tissue protection
- 20 cm overall length for extended reach
- Designed for controlled incision, tunneling, and blunt dissection
- Reusable construction suitable for repeated sterilization
Material & Construction
Constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel to provide corrosion resistance and long service life under repeated sterilization cycles. The solid construction and smooth finish facilitate cleaning and reduce crevices that can trap biological material. Designed and balanced for reliable manual control during guided incisions and exploration.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
