Clinical Application
Fenestrated blades for the Caspar retractor are used to maintain and optimize exposure of the anterior cervical spine during procedures such as anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) and other anterior cervical approaches. The rectangular fenestration provides a controlled working window that permits instrument passage, suction, and cautery while maintaining retraction of soft tissues and limiting focal pressure on adjacent structures.
Design & Configuration
The fenestrated geometry creates a stable, unobstructed aperture that improves visualization of the operative field and facilitates instrument access through the retractor without removing the blade. A 60x25 mm aperture balances a wide working area with cortical support at the blade margins to distribute retraction forces. Titanium construction reduces blade weight while preserving strength, helping maintain retractor position with minimal torque on the system.
