Clinical Application
Designed for use with Caspar cervical retractor systems in anterior cervical procedures, this lateral blade provides focused retraction of lateral soft tissues and musculature to maintain exposure of the disc space and vertebral bodies during anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), corpectomy, and other anterior cervical approaches. The 25 x 24 mm contact footprint is sized for controlled, localized retraction in small-to-medium exposures, helping preserve adjacent neurovascular structures and minimize traction on the esophagus and carotid sheath.
Design & Configuration
The lateral orientation of the blade directs retraction force along the side of the operative corridor, allowing the surgeon to displace longus colli and adjacent soft tissue laterally while maintaining a clear midline working channel. The blade’s compact rectangular footprint balances surface area for tissue support with a low-profile edge to reduce interference with instruments. It is configured to secure into Caspar-style blade holders for stable, hands-free retraction and predictable depth control during the procedure.
