Clinical Application

This lateral retractor blade is intended to provide stable lateral soft-tissue retraction during anterior cervical spine procedures. In clinical practice it is used to maintain exposure of the operative field during anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) and other anterior cervical exposures, enabling improved visualization and access to the vertebral bodies and intervertebral discs while freeing the assistant from manual retraction.

Design & Configuration

The lateral geometry concentrates retraction along the side of the surgical corridor to displace muscular and soft-tissue planes laterally. A 55 mm blade length offers sufficient depth for typical anterior cervical exposures while minimizing excess profile within the wound. The blade is shaped to provide broad contact with soft tissue to distribute pressure and reduce focal tissue stress, and it is configured to interface with Caspar-style retractor frames for secure mounting and stable exposure.
