Clinical Application
Designed to provide stable, hands-free retraction of superficial soft tissue in small to moderate operative fields. Commonly used to expose wound edges and soft-tissue planes in procedures such as plastic and reconstructive cases, orthopedic and spinal approaches, minor general surgery, and select neurosurgical or ENT openings where precise focal retraction is required. The pointed tips allow direct spreading of tissue margins to maintain a clear line of sight during dissection, hemostasis, suturing, or implant placement.
Design & Configuration
The instrument’s two-armed, self-retaining geometry produces radial separation force while concentrating contact at the single-pointed tips, permitting secure retraction through a small aperture without the need for manual holding. The built-in locking mechanism holds the arms apart at the set spread, freeing assistants and maintaining consistent exposure throughout the case. At 16 cm overall length, the balance of shaft length and tip projection provides adequate reach for most superficial and moderately deep incisions while keeping instrument bulk low within the field. Careful placement of the pointed tips minimizes slippage but requires attention to tissue quality to avoid focal pressure injury.
