Clinical Application
Used to provide exposure in open surgical procedures by retracting viscera and soft tissues from deep cavities. Commonly applied in general, abdominal, gynecologic, urologic and thoracic operations to retract bowel, liver, bladder and other organs away from the operative field. The blade geometry favors wide-area tissue support to minimize focal pressure while maintaining a clear line of sight for the surgeon.
Design & Configuration
The instrument features a broad, flat, curved blade that follows the contour of deep body cavities. The curvature and length permit reach into deeper surgical sites while the wide blade distributes retraction force across a larger surface area—reducing localized tissue compression compared with narrow retractors. The single-ended, handheld configuration allows the assistant or surgeon to reposition the retractor quickly for dynamic exposure during dissection and hemostasis.
