Clinical Application
Backhaus towel forceps are used to secure surgical drapes and towels to the patient or to other drapes to maintain a sterile field. The penetrating, interlocking tips provide a firm grip on soft tissue or drape material and are commonly used in general, minor, and ambulatory procedures where stable, low-profile fixation is required. They can also be used for temporary soft-tissue retraction or traction during wound prep or minor soft-tissue procedures.
Design & Configuration
The compact 9 cm length gives close tactile control and ease of handling in confined operative fields. A ratchet-style locking mechanism permits hands-free retention once engaged, reducing the need for continuous manual hold. The penetrating, interlocking tip geometry concentrates holding force at the point of contact to minimize slippage of drape material while maintaining a low-profile footprint to limit interference with instrumentation.
