Clinical Application
Designed for secure mechanical occlusion of vessels and tissue pedicles, this Fergusson Angiotribe is used when a firm, permanent crush is required prior to transection or ligation. It is appropriate in general surgery, gynecology and obstetrics, and in many open vascular or soft-tissue procedures where vessel sealing by mechanical compression is acceptable. Because the jaws produce a crush effect, the instrument is used to achieve definitive hemostasis of vessels or to control pedicles before ligature or division.
Design & Configuration
The curved geometry provides improved access and visualization in deep or confined operative fields and helps orient the jaws along the vessel axis. Broad, interlocking crushing jaws distribute compressive force to create a secure occlusion and reduce slippage on soft tissue. Ring handles with a ratchet lock permit sustained clamping without continuous manual pressure, allowing the surgeon to maintain hemostasis while preparing definitive ligation or transection.
