Clinical Application
Used for atraumatic handling of dressings, packing material, sponges and other sterile supplies during wound care, minor procedures, and operative setup. The narrow jaw profile permits precise placement and retrieval of dressings within confined spaces such as wound tunnels, between drains or in deep superficial cavities where a broader instrument would be cumbersome. Intended for manipulation of dressings and sterile items rather than for heavy tissue dissection.
Design & Configuration
The instrument is a non-locking thumb forceps with a narrow jaw geometry and 25 cm overall length. The extended length provides reach into deeper wounds and allows the operator to remain outside the immediate field while maintaining fine control. The narrow, fine jaws minimize bulk at the tip for accurate grasping and placement of dressings without obscuring the view. The non-locking thumb-forceps configuration gives tactile feedback for controlled grip pressure, helping reduce the risk of compressing delicate material.
