Clinical Application
Provides controlled mechanical dilation of the cervical canal to permit safe passage of intrauterine instruments. Commonly used during dilation and curettage (D&C), hysteroscopy, IUD insertion or removal, and other procedures requiring progressive cervical enlargement. A 21.5 mm caliber serves as a near-final or final dilator in sequential dilation protocols.
Design & Configuration
The straight, single-ended tapered cylinder with a smooth, rounded tip is designed to advance through the cervical canal with minimal tissue catch. The uniform taper and polished surface reduce friction and trauma while allowing the operator to gauge resistance and tactile feedback during dilation. Single-ended configuration provides a stable shaft and ergonomic control for deliberate, incremental dilation when used following smaller-size dilators.
