Clinical Application
Designed for controlled mechanical dilation of the cervix, this Hegar pattern dilator is used to gently enlarge the cervical canal prior to diagnostic and operative procedures such as dilation and curettage, hysteroscopy, and other gynecologic interventions that require access to the uterine cavity. The 6.0 mm diameter provides a commonly used incremental size for progressive dilation protocols and for confirming cervical patency.
Design & Configuration
The single-ended, solid shaft with a smoothly tapered, rounded tip provides predictable, atraumatic entry through the cervical os. The Hegar taper allows gradual engagement of tissue and controlled radial stretch as the instrument is advanced, giving the operator tactile feedback to moderate force and reduce the risk of false passages. The straight, rigid configuration supports accurate alignment with the cervical canal for reliable dilation.
