Clinical Application
Designed to deliver focused illumination directly to the working field when used with a Collin speculum. The carrier channels light from an external fiber optic source to the distal area of the speculum blades, improving visualization of the nasal cavity, nasopharynx, oral cavity and oropharynx during diagnostic examinations, endoscopic assistance, minor office procedures and select operating room tasks. By positioning light adjacent to the speculum, it reduces shadowing and helps the clinician maintain a clear, well-lit field without repositioning head-mounted lights.
Design & Configuration
The accessory is configured to couple with the geometry of a Collin speculum so that illumination is directed along the instrument axis and toward the distal tips. This proximity-based illumination minimizes shadows created by instruments in the field and improves contrast of mucosal detail. A low-profile carrier preserves access for instruments and suction alongside the speculum while providing stable light delivery during manipulations.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Fiber optic light carrier
- Intended pattern: for Collin Speula
- Primary use: Directed intra-cavity illumination for ENT visualization and minor procedures
- Construction: Incorporates fiber optic light transmission components
- Serviceability: Reusable and designed for routine sterilization between cases
Material & Construction
Constructed around fiber optic light transmission elements to convey light from an external light source into the speculum. The assembly is engineered for repeated clinical use and sterilization cycles. No active bulb is housed in the carrier; illumination is provided by the connected external fiber optic light source, producing bright, cool light at the tissue interface.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
