Clinical Application
This bivalve speculum is designed to provide atraumatic retraction of the vaginal walls to expose the cervix for direct visualization, diagnostic sampling (Pap smear, cultures), intrauterine device (IUD) placement, colposcopy, minor office-based procedures, and instrument access for biopsy or local therapy. The instrument enables the clinician to maintain a stable field and access the cervical os while hands or assistants manage adjunct tasks.
Design & Configuration
The two-blade (bivalve) design separates and holds the vaginal walls apart while the center screw locking mechanism allows incremental adjustment and secure retention at the desired opening. Smooth, rounded blade edges reduce soft-tissue trauma during insertion and positioning. The 75 x 17 mm blade geometry offers a moderate opening and blade width that balances exposure with patient comfort for many gynecologic examinations and minor procedures.
