Clinical Application
Designed for removal of calculi and small debris from the gallbladder and biliary tree, this long-shafted scoop is used during open cholecystectomy, choledochotomy and common bile duct exploration. The small 3.2 mm Fig.00 scoop aperture is intended for capturing small to moderate-sized stones, fragments and inspissated bile with minimal trauma to ductal mucosa. Its length provides reach into deep biliary segments or through a choledochotomy/port while maintaining tactile control.
Design & Configuration
The Luer-Koerte geometry features a shallow, rounded spoon head mounted on a slim, rigid shaft. The 32 cm length allows access to distal ducts while the narrow profile reduces the need for larger exposures. The rounded scoop rim permits gentle engagement and withdrawal of calculi without sharp edges that could abrade or tear duct tissue. A long, ergonomic handle provides tactile feedback for controlled insertion, sweeping and extraction maneuvers.
