Clinical Application
Designed to obtain mucosal and submucosal tissue samples from the rectum, this Yeoman specimen forceps provides controlled sampling for diagnostic histopathology in outpatient clinics, endoscopy suites, and operating rooms. Common indications include evaluation of inflammatory bowel disease, rectal lesions, superficial neoplasia, and other anorectal pathology where targeted mucosal biopsy is required under anoscopic, proctoscopic, or direct-vision techniques.
Design & Configuration
The long 28 cm shaft permits access through an anoscope or proctoscope to reach distal and mid-rectal sites without excessive instrument retraction. The Yeoman Fig.3 pattern is a purpose-built biopsy configuration that balances shaft rigidity for controlled advancement with a jaw design optimized to retain small mucosal specimens. The specimen cup-style jaws help secure tissue at the point of retrieval to reduce specimen loss during removal from the canal.
