Clinical Application
Used to temporarily occlude and control segments of small and large intestine during open abdominal procedures such as bowel resection, anastomosis, enterotomy and contamination control. The instrument provides atraumatic tissue contact to reduce mucosal injury while maintaining secure closure of the lumen to minimize spillage of intestinal contents and facilitate a clear operative field.
Design & Configuration
The curved geometry follows the natural contour of the bowel, improving access around mesenteric attachments and in deep pelvic or upper-abdominal fields. At 36 cm overall length the instrument offers extended reach for exposure in larger patients and deep cavities while keeping the operating hand away from the surgical site. Fenestrated, broad jaws distribute compressive forces across the bowel wall to lower focal pressure and reduce tissue trauma. A ratcheting locking mechanism provides sustained occlusion without continuous manual force.
