Clinical Application
This curette is intended for use in transoral adenoidectomy procedures to remove hypertrophic adenoidal tissue from the nasopharynx. The 13 mm curette tip is sized to capture and core adenoidal tissue while allowing controlled excision under direct vision or with standard otolaryngology retractors and gags. It is suited for surgical teams performing routine adenoid removals where precise tissue control and atraumatic mucosal handling are priorities.
Design & Configuration
An elongated 22 cm shaft provides the reach necessary to access the nasopharynx via the oral cavity without excessive instrument intrusion. The scoop-shaped curette tip concentrates cutting force at the rim of the cup to core tissue efficiently while minimizing shear on surrounding mucosa. The single-ended, hand-held design delivers direct tactile feedback to the operator for controlled engagement and removal of tissue. The Fig. 1 Beckmann pattern offers a balance between tip diameter and shaft length for common operative approaches.
