Clinical Application
This instrument is designed for intranasal and paranasal sinus procedures where precise, atraumatic grasping and removal of soft tissue is required. It is commonly used in rhinology and endoscopic sinus surgery to extract polyps, excised mucosal tissue, and small fragments from confined nasal cavities. The cup-shaped Blakesley-style jaws permit secure tissue capture with minimal crushing, improving control during delicate maneuvers.
Design & Configuration
The elongated, necked shaft positions the tip deeper into narrow nasal corridors while keeping the surgeon's hand clear of the line of sight. The Figure 1 Weil-Blakesley geometry pairs a subtly angled neck with Blakesley-style cup jaws, which helps align the jaws parallel to the operative field and facilitates controlled, fingertip manipulation in confined spaces. This configuration reduces the need for repeated instrument exchanges and improves access to posterior intranasal and sinus recesses.
