Clinical Application

Designed for precision work in otologic surgery, this hook is used to lift and manipulate delicate middle-ear tissues, elevate tympanic membrane remnants, clear granulation tissue and cholesteatoma debris, and assist in fine dissection around the ossicular chain. Its small, low-profile geometry facilitates work under the operating microscope and in confined spaces such as the sinus tympani, epitympanum, and posterior tympanic recesses.

Design & Configuration

The slender shank and contoured hook geometry provide tactile feedback and fine control when operating in narrow auditory canals and middle-ear compartments. The Fig.5 curvature is a Rosen pattern that offers a balance of reach and tip orientation to access posterior and medial recesses without requiring excessive manipulation of surrounding structures. The fine, atraumatic tip minimizes tissue trauma while allowing secure engagement of membranous or fibrous material.
