Clinical Application
Compact alligator-style forceps sized for otologic procedures where space is limited. The small serrated distal jaws provide secure purchase on cerumen, foreign bodies, packing material, and delicate soft tissue in the external auditory canal. Common users include ENT surgeons, audiologists, pediatric specialists, and ambulatory surgery centers performing routine ear debridement, foreign-body extraction, and intraoperative manipulation during tympanoplasty or other middle-ear work under microscopic visualization.
Design & Configuration
The mini McGee geometry concentrates a narrow, low-profile serrated jaw at the distal tip while keeping overall length short (8.5 cm) for improved hand control and tactile feedback. The alligator (side-opening) jaw allows access through otoscope specula and small ear canals with minimal shaft obstruction to the field of view. Fine serrations on the 3.5 mm jaw enhance grip on slippery or irregular objects while minimizing the need for excessive force, reducing risk of canal wall trauma.
